Hatton vs. Mayweather

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Tomorrow night in Las Vegas, one of the biggest boxing matches for several years will take place. Both Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton are unbeaten in their professional careers and for the first time ever they are going to go face to face.

In the rounds of press conferences that have proceeded the fight, a number of punches (of the verbal sort) have already been thrown. So, here for a little bit of pre-match entertainment is a video of the press conference. You can see the difference in stlye between Mayweather’s slick, aggressive arrogance and Hatton’s northern English humour.

Pet Peeves

By Tahira Lindsay

We all have pet peeves. I bet even Mother Theresa had a list of inconceivable and annoying things that other people would do that could take her over the edge. To be honest, I wouldn’t blame her. I don’t blame anyone who wants to burn a hole in their cerebellum after trying to have a decent conversation with a friend, only to be distracted by the gnawing of his gums as he chews his bubble gum with his mouth wide open! Or how about finally getting that obnoxious phone call from a friend who would rather tell you some extremely exaggerated, ill organized, ludicrous, boldface LIE instead of just telling the truth and sticking to the facts. Or, better yet, have you ever been driving at a steady pace until randomly the car in front of you slows down, keeps slowing down, and then ultimately stops to make a turn without having ever warned you with his TURN SIGNAL?!!

Clearly, there is a reason why all cars come equipped with them! Use them, people!!!

Whew! So after all that being said, I think it’s safe to say that none of us are immune to the harsh effects of someone else’s blatant disregard for humanity. And even though they may be unaware of how much their gnawing of bubble gum urks the hell out us, unfortunately we have to force ourselves to stay calm, and take… really….deep… breaths…

We can’t change who they are (unfortunately), and we know if you could you would shove your hand down their throat and throw the bubble gum away yourself, but you can’t. Not only because it’s unlawful to shove your hand down a strangers throat to throw away their bubble gum, but also because as much as their quirkiness bothers us…we all have our own individual quirkiness that probably bothers them too. So the next time you fall into the toilet because the person before you failed to pull down the seat, stop and think…what you may have done to someone else for you to deserve this!
